Outstanding Sophomore and Junior Awards

The Leadership Board of the College of Arts and Sciences recognizes students who have excelled on campus through their Outstanding Sophomore and Outstanding Junior Awards. In making its annual spring selections the committee will look at the applicant’s extraordinary character and maturity, leadership, well-rounded experiences including strong academic performance and involvement in curricular and co-curricular activities.

There may be more than one recipient. The total amount awarded may range between $500 and $2,500 total. The recipient(s) will be recognized at the College’s Honors Day Convocation in the spring and the scholarship award will be applied to the 2017-2018 academic year.

Award Criteria

Outstanding Sophomore Award Criteria:

  • Must have completed 30-60 UA hours
  • Must have 3.5 or higher cumulative UA GPA
  • Must be enrolled full time as an on campus student pursuing first bachelor degree in the College of Arts & Sciences

Outstanding Junior Award Criteria:

  • Must have completed 60-90 UA hours
  • Must have 3.5 or higher cumulative UA GPA
  • Must be enrolled full time as an on campus student pursuing first bachelor degree in the College of Arts & Sciences

Application Requirements

In addition to meeting the qualifications for the award, applicants must submit the following:

  • Essay (350 words) describing your commitment to education and what obstacles you had to overcome in pursuit of higher education (include name and CWID on essay)
  • Resume including student name, CWID, mailing address, email and phone number
