Slave Power: How Southern Slaveholders Mastered U.S. Foreign Policy

The History Department is hosting a talk by Dr. Matthew Karp on Wednesday, September 20, from 5-6:30pm, in 30 ten Hoor Hall. The talk is titled, “Slave Power: How Southern Slaveholders Mastered U.S. Foreign Policy.”

Dr. Karp is an Assistant Professor of History at Princeton University. His book, This Vast Southern Empire: Slaveholders at the Helm of American Foreign Policy, was published in 2016 by Harvard University Press.

This event, which is sponsored by the Charles G. Summersell Chair of Southern History, is free and open to the public.
