Ida Johnson is the chair of the Department of Women’s Studies and a criminal justice scholar with specialties in the areas of domestic violence, date rape, and female criminality. She teaches courses in women and law, institutional corrections, criminal justice research, criminological theory, domestic violence, and the death penalty as applied to females. Her latest publications include “Gender Differences in Perceptions of Women’s Participation in Unwanted Sexual Intercourse” in the Journal of Criminal Justice (2006) and “Public Definitions and the Criminalization of Elder Abuse” in the Journal of Criminal Justice (2006). Johnson is actively involved in the Women Involved in Learning and Leading (WILL) program, Alliance of Women of Color, and serves on the Board of the Tuscaloosa Children's Center.
