The College of Arts and Sciences welcomes students who transfer to us from another institution. For students who attend Alabama state junior or four-year colleges or universities, the STARS system facilitates the process of moving from that institution to this one. For students who have attended other universities in or outside Alabama, we make every effort to evaluate your coursework as fairly as possible and to help you in meshing work taken elsewhere with your academic plans at this institution.
Several steps are recommended for transfer students:
Please have transcripts sent to the University of Alabama as promptly as possible. These should be send to the University Registrar, PO Box 870134, Tuscaloosa, Alabama 35487-0134.
Upon arrival at the University, please make an appointment with an academic advisor in the Student Services Center in 200 Clark Hall to verify your transferred coursework and to review the fit between transfer work and college and University degree requirements.
We recommend that you see the person listed below who has expertise in your area of academic interest:

We also understand that students enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences may elect to take courses elsewhere during their careers. In order to make sure that the course will transfer back to UA and also to speed admission to the other institution, a letter of good standing is needed. Arrangements for obtaining this letter are discussed in the FAQs section of this site.
