Student and their families often need assistance in understanding the different types of scholarships and financial aid that are available as they decide how best to finance university education. While there are certainly exceptions, the most common experience is for families and students to rely upon a mixture of funding sources. This may mean that it is necessary to gather information from various sources and several important ones are listed along the margin as contacts external to the College of Arts and Sciences.
Scholarships are awarded at the University level, at the college level, and at the level of the academic department or program level. If it is necessary to provide any additional material, the information concerning this is noted on the scholarship application and on the UA scholarship website, scholarships.ua.edu.
