ELIGIBILITY: Full-time English major with priority given to those students whose academic records demonstrate past success and indicate a high probability of future achievement and who express a special interest in Dr. Emerson's favorite areas of American literature -- Afro-American and Southern Literature and especially the works of William Faulkner; records of each recipient shall be reviewed annually and he/she shall be eligible to retain the scholarship for the succeeding year provided the scholarship committee deems the holder to be more qualified than others under consideration; must be at least junior standing with nine or more hours of English courses; minimum 3.0 overall GPA and minimum 3.2 GPA in English courses on a 4.0 scale.
