For the fifth year in a row, the Department sponsored a "Welcome
Back" event--this time pizza and pop, with a few t-shirts,
mugs, and even Department pencils thrown into the mix. Thanks, as
usual, to the main office staff for arranging this, and to Betty
Dickey, our resident photo journalist, for documenting the event.

Records people decided that we were near, but not over, the
world record for "pizza ordered for a student event."

Although he's completed his REL courses, Mike Winder--REL major
and soon-to-be-REL graduate--stopped by to say hello to, among
others, Prof. Murphy (pictured left, doing his part of help us
minimize our leftovers).

Dr. Stephens's REL
105 class was well represented, as were our various Department
items, such as our mugs and t-shirts--we replentished our stock
of both over the summer.

Baptism by pizza! Our two new faculty members, Maha
Marouan and Rob Stephens
learn how to welcome back students Bama style--and how to deplete
the leftovers. Background is Melanie Williams, one of the Department's
new student workers,
who assists with two sections of REL 100.

who returns to the main office as a student worker: Jennifer Goodman
(far left) and Sarah Luken (seated left), here speaking with Religious
Studies student, Stephanie Brennan.
