Welcome Back 2004

For the fourth time the Department once again sponsored a welcome back event for its students, to help kick off the new semester. Along with what is colloquially known as "sexy pop," there were more hot dogs, hamburgers, and veggie burgers than anyone cared to eat in one sitting. So we were set for lunches for the coming week.

The lunch was held outside our newly refurbished Department library and lounge.

At this year's lunch, our former main office assistant, Kim Davis (now a Blount Junior Fellow, pursuing a MA in French), was presented by Ms. Betty Dickey with a historic photo of Clark, Manly, and Garland Halls (signed by the faculty and staff), along with a small desk plaque, presented by Prof. Schaeffer, bearing the initials "WWKD." Another plaque sits in our main office where we hope, for some years to come, everyone in will ask themselves, "What Would Kim Do?" before they tackle any project.

The lunch provided a chance to distribute the Department's t-shirts, mouse pads, and mugs.

Brian Robbins and Christine Scott, lunching prior to Prof. Schaeffer's course on Tibetan Buddhism.
Kim Davis and Betty Dickey, partners in crime.

For photos from last year's welcome back event, see 2003.

Thanks once again goes to Betty Dickey and Prof. Tim Murphy for helping to make this yet another very successful event. And thanks also to Samantha Sastre and Josh McDonough for their photographic skills.
