Course description: As an introductory survey, this course will introduce the major doctrines, history, and central themes within the Asian religious traditions of Hinduism, Jainism, Sikhism, Buddhism, Confucianism, Daoism, and Shinto. Particular focus will be placed on how these religious traditions developed in India, China, and Japan during periods in history ranging from the seventh century BCE to twentieth century CE.
