Dr. Kevin E. Trenberth, head of the Climate Analysis Section at the National Center for Atmospheric Research in Boulder, Colo., presented the lecture, “Global Warming: Coming Ready or Not!,” on Decmber 6, 2007 at The University of Alabama campus.
Trenberth’s lecture is the third in the Alabama Perspectives on Sustainability and Climate Change lecture series sponsored by UA’s College of Arts and Sciences and its department of physics and astronomy and New College program.
In his lecture, Trenberth discusses the problems related to human activities, changes in atmospheric composition and the greenhouse effect and offers evidence that global warming is “unequivocal,” according to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. He explains the historical context and lays out future projections surrounding global warming. Trenberth also discusses how global warming has been addressed on an international level.
