Counters
Here is a chart of the counters you learned in Modules 1 through 5. Click on the links to review each individual counter. Remember that you cannot simply add any counter to any number! For example, one flat thing is ichimai, but one cylindrical thing is ippon. The pronunciation of the numbers and sometimes the counter itself changes. Usually the words are written with kanji, as in 一台 (ichidai = one vehicle), but you will also see the Arabic numerals as in1台.
