Each year the College of Arts and Sciences welcomes transfer students from schools all over the U.S. as well as international schools. We make every effort to ensure that the transition to The University of Alabama from in-state, out-of-state, private, public, junior colleges, and four-year institutions is as smooth as possible. The STARS system facilitates the process of moving from Alabama state schools to UA. Course equivalents for all other institutions are determined individually and as fairly as possible. For additional information regarding transferring courses, please see the Transfer Coursework Fact Sheet.
Please have transcripts from all sources sent to The University of Alabama registrar as promptly as possible.

After being admitted, transfer students should register for one of the new student transfer orientationsessions. At that time, they will meet with advisors who will discuss degree requirements, and they will plan and register for the first semester at UA. Transfer evaluations will be viewable via MyBama on the UA academic transcript and Degree Works. Questions and concerns not addressed during orientation can be directed to Cindy Channell (205-348-0419, cchannll@as.ua.edu) in the College of Arts and Sciences Student Services Center in 200 Clark Hall. Questions concerning admission status should be directed to the UA Office of Admissions, 1-800-933-BAMA (2262), or admissions@ua.edu.
Students enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences may elect to take courses elsewhere during their careers. These students are considered transient during that semester. In order to make sure that the courses will transfer to UA, students can request a letter of transiency online through the myBama student portal. A letter of transiency or a letter of good standing may be required for admission at the other school. While students can request a letter of transiency generated by the Office of University Register and mailed by the student, they cannot request a letter of good standing. Instead, the UA official transcript serves as a letter of good standing and can be requested online as well.
