Academic Divisions

The College of Arts and Sciences is the state’s most comprehensive liberal arts college at both the undergraduate and graduate level.   The College has 85 degree programs in 22 academic departments or schools and includes 13 doctoral programs and 31 master’s programs.  It’s fine and performing arts programs at the undergraduate and graduate level are the  most comprehensive in the state and enjoy regional and national reputations. 

The College is the largest of the University’s 12 divisions with approximately 6,600 undergraduates and 1,000 graduate students yet in many ways it is the University’s smallest college.  With a number of close-knit learning communities and student centered activities in each of its 22 departments, the College offers many places for students to call their academic home.   

The College employs approximately 360 tenure-track faculty and 250 staff and support personnel.  

In addition, the College includes more than 24 research centers and ancillary units that have vibrant research, public service, and educational programs.
