Our Web is a dynamic and vital element of the Department's life. It is constantly updated through the Upcoming Events pages. Here you can anticipate the many events planned and projected by the Department.

Included also is a News page. The latest books published by the faculty, new additions, retirements, new classes and programs, and other materials are highlighted. You will get, in short, a snapshot of the Department.

Biographical sketches and pictures of all faculty are included. And we have added a section on senior graduate students-mostly Ph.D. candidates-with their vital statistics. These sketches will help our colleagues in the colleges and universities around the Southeast to identify prospective candidates for short- or long-term positions in History.

The Department of Alabama has twenty-two full time faculty members specializing in U. S. and Southern history, Europe, Latin America, Asia, and military and naval history. Graduate degrees through the Ph.D. are offered in all those areas.

A rich and varied undergraduate program is offered in traditional areas, while faculty experiment with new courses, incorporating new technologies, and communicating their love and excitement of the discipline to undergraduates.
