During Spring 2011 the University of Alabama will host a series of events highlighting the connections between Greece (both contemporary Greece and its classical traditions) and other parts of the world, including Alabama.  These events will feature UA faculty along with two faculty members from Aristotle University in Thessaloniki, Greece.

The Initiative’s events will be:

February 23 – Public Lecture: Dr. Angeliki Ziaka, “The Muslim Presence in Greece.”

March 30 and 31 – Screening of two contemporary Greek films, with introductions by Dr. Tatiana Summers (Department of Modern Languages and Classics).
