Each semester should include 6500 words of graded writing. This requirement should be met in at least 6 major, graded assignments such as final drafts, expanded revisions, and a final exam. A substantial presentation may also count as one of the 6 assignments.
The word count should not include journals, blogs, or other assignments that are not formally graded with substantial instructor feedback.

An in-class final exam is required for all first-year writing courses.
