The Writing Center is staffed by English Department instructors and graduate students, and offers skilled assistance to students at all levels-graduate and undergraduate-in all disciplines, and...

• provides free, friendly one-on-one assistance to supplement classroom instruction
• helps students brainstorm, use quotations and paraphrase, use secondary sources, learn to correct grammar and mechanics problems on their own, and improve editing and proofreading skill
• helps develop English writing skills for those who speak English as a second language
• can provide the best service if students bring a writing sample of previous work or an early draft of an assignment in progress; instructor's comments on student's writing will also be helpful

The Writing Center does not proofread papers, discuss grades, discuss the quality of a student's instructor or assignments, do the writing or thinking for the student, or take responsibility for the content of the papers.
