The Mission of the Department of Biological Sciences is to provide high quality instruction to students at the undergraduate and graduate levels with an emphasis on active learning and problem solving. The department is committed to the advancement of knowledge through research and scholarly activities. Our faculty participate in outreach to the state, nation and world through service to the university community, to public, governmental and industrial sectors, and to professional societies. Within its areas of expertise, the department supports the tripartite mission of the University in teaching, research, and service.
